Work Breakdown Structure

The WBS Editor will help you take the Deliverables you added in the Project Profile Editor and detail them with tasks needed to get the work done. The editor is broken into three sections. On the left, you'll see the tree view of your project. Select an item in the tree and it'll appear in the Block Properties Name field on the top right of the editor. Now, you can begin adding or editing items on the next level down.

For example:

If you select the project level in the tree view, you'll see your deliverables in the Next Level Down, and can begin to edit or change them. If you select one of your deliverables in the tree on the left, you'll be able to add tasks in the Next Level Down. If you select a task in the tree, you'll be able to add sub-tasks in the Next Level Down. Finally, select a sub-task in the tree on the left and you'll be able to add work-packages in the Next Level Down.

You may run into a situation where you have work that needs to be completed on your project that doesn't relate directly to a deliverable you identified earlier. ProjectMaster accommodates this in the WBS editor. When you select the Project Level in the tree on the left, you'll see all your deliverables on the bottom right. At this level, notice that each deliverable is marked with a check-box to it's right, in the Del column. If you add a non-deliverable item at this level, simply leave it's box unchecked. This item will now appear throughout your project plan, though not in the Deliverables section in your Project Profile.

You can reorder items in the WBS editor. The order set in the WBS editor determines the WBS number throughout the rest of your project plan.
